TITAN PARENTS MEETING
Minutes of the November 8th meeting
Sign-up sheets are up for the first two Y
meets: Portland on November 17th and Down East Family Y on December 1. All
swimmers should plan on the 3 home meets: November 17, December 15, and
January 5th.
We will be hiring a bus to go to Ellsworth on
December 1. The cost is $5 per swimmer and should be paid to Katie Fournier, the
Aquatic Director.
All meet information for Y meets will be on
the bulletin board opposite the locker rooms. Information regarding the USA
meets will be on the bulletin board closer to the weight room. Swimmers should
fill out the registration materials for USA swimming now so that we can send it
out next week. All swimmers, Junior and up are encouraged to join. See your
coach with any questions you may have.
We have an updated team handbook. If you need
one, see Katie Fournier.
Phil Giordano will continue to coordinate
meetings and socials for the Parents' group.
Eric Hoar will work with anyone interested in
officiating. We always need officials and can't run our meets without them. It
isn't hard, and makes the sport of swimming more understandable to learn the
rules, so please don't be timid.
We especially need help with the concession
stands at meets, so please speak to Phil if you can help.
Merilee Perkins is going to look into getting
babysitters for our meets. There will be a small fee to use them.
Parents are the most important people in our
swimmers lives and we coaches thank you. The most helpful things you do are
encourage and believe in your children. You also help by ensuring that they get
to practice regularly and on time. Please help them keep track of their goggles,
etc., get enough sleep and good food: I leave it to you to figure out what good
food is. However, if there is interest, we can get a nutritionist to help with
any questions you have. One of our parents is a nutritionist and has offered to
help.
