Sanford
Y Titans
Parents’ Advisory Board By-laws
Purpose
of the Titans
The
Sanford
Y Titan Swim Team uses competitive
swimming to teach children how to improve physical skills, concentration, and
perseverance. We also provide a chance to make friends and learn teamwork. We provide an
arena for beginning through advanced levels of swimming.
Game
Plan
New swimmers who want to
join the Titans should have a love of the water and enough skill to swim a length with good breath control.
First year Titans concentrate on skills and fun.
Age Group Titans focus on
refining technique. Endurance and strength are gradually built
up, so that when the swimmer reaches Senior Titans, they are ready to train. Coaches provide encouragement and guidance. The more strongly
motivated the swimmer, the faster the progress will be.
Coaches expect that when
aSenior Titan graduates from high school, he or she should be beautifully fast, and
still love to the water.
Purpose
of the Parents' Advisory Board

the Head Coach. It is the forum for parents to work together to ensure the
smooth operation of the swim team. The board manages the meets, social
activities, equipment, publicity, and budget. It serves as a sounding board for
parental concerns and suggestions. Members are advised to have open minds, good
humor, and a willingness to give troubling issues time to resolve.
